rant rant rant ahead.

I know for me it would be a dream to be working in an independent game studio like the behemoth. Making graphics for games, I'd stray away from the coding side of things uggh. But realistically, I'm kinda losing hope and motivation. There are so many people like me nowadays wanting to become some sort of animator, but if you want to get anywhere, the way I see it is you gotta be REALLY good or have some sort of real drive and passion for it, something I am lacking a lot lately even though when I was a young child, i said my dream job would be a cartoonist or animator, not your typical "when i grow up i wanna be a fireman!"

The thing is, I don't want to settle for normal. I don't want to be your typical average guy who lives his life laying bricks, fixing leaking pipes, etc. I want to actually enjoy what I do every day, life shouldn't be about work, for a select lucky few they get to enjoy their work.

I worked in a Web Design company last year in New Zealand. I was really excited when I got the job, but after a while it got old and I questioned myself if I really enjoyed doing it. I found the workplace way too business like, it wasn't even a slight bit enjoyable. Imagine people in suits, shaking hands, straight faces, fake laughter. That was my workplace in a little nutshell.

I moved back to Australia, where I am originally from at the end of the year. Doing a bit of freelance work for my dads friends business. Mainly flash banners. But I want to go further, I want a fun career. Thing is you got to have the paper in your hand that states you know what you're doing (most of the time) it helps if you know someone in the industry (which i dont). I've just been stressing out lately, I don't know what paths to take to get to where I want to go. I am 19 years old and don't wanna leave it too late. I know things dont just happen, you gotta make things happen but with the amount of people who want to become animators, I see the chances of myself becoming one slipping away and I see myself stooping into the gloomy average joe life.

That's just what I wanted to say. How many of you feel the same? Dan Paladin I think you're awesome and I envy you because you have something that I can only dream of. You're no Disney 3D super star animator, but that's the one thing that gives me a slight bit of hope.

Thanks for reading and I'd like to hear what everyones input is if they have any. :]

I have been thinking about putting my music on NG. But before I decide whether or not to, could you listen to a few of my songs first. http://www.myspace.com/shaunmcglinn

Ignore the first song as I won't be uploading that to NG. My style is more of a videogame retro cartridge style I guess. So put your attention to bangyahead demo and bloom bombs.

ANYWAY I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR COMMENTS AND IF U LIKE THE SONGS I WILL PUT THEM ON NG FOR YOU :)

The rest of my tunes are over at http://www.shaunmcglinn.com/music

THANKSSSSS

HELLO NG I WOULD LIKE YOUR OPINIONS

Nothing much to be honest, but here is something I started working on. First time I've actually made anything in flash in a year or so. You can see a preview of it below

Probably won't finish it, but atleast its a start, RIGHT?

BOOMSHAKALAKA

SO what have I been doing in flash?!1

What sort of microphones do all you flash authors use? I've been meaning to get one so I can do some voice acting in my own flash movies but haven't had time to go shopping around for one.

I know a lot of people settle with just an ordinary pc microphone. i.e. some sort of logitech mic or something similar. But I have a M-audio audiophile 192 sound card and am thinking of putting it to use with a proper studio condenser mic hooked up through a preamp with some sort of power supply to power the mic (you need power to make a condenser work through a soundcard).

I know, it sounds confusing and can be pretty expensive but the results are worth it.

So what kinda mic do you use? And for all the music/sound technicians out there, do you have any input on condenser mics?

As soon as I get my fancy pants mic, I will get back into flash I PROMISE

Well, I'm moving back to Australia with my family soon. Within 3 weeks infact. I've been living in New Zealand for 5 months now and have been at a job for 4 months, working as a Web Developer for a local Web company.

I've learnt some good skills that will help me in the future, and some work experience in a field of one of my strengths. I'm going to feel really bad when I let them know tomorrow what's happening, but I have no choice. We've lost money since we've moved from aus, the wages are really poor here, plus there isn't anything you can really do except look at all the sights. I guess New Zealand is really only a good place for a holiday, not to live.

I can't wait til I get back to Aus to be honest. It's going to be interesting to see how I go with getting a new job. Most of you don't really care or anything but I felt like blogging a bit, letting SOME of my fans out there know whats going on in my life lol

I need a holiday BADLY.

my god i am going to feel human again once I get back home KJSKJKDFKFFJFF

I am really nervous about telling my boss tomorrow guh :\

I will be revived on Tuesday!

Tuesday is a special day because I GET MY NEW COMPUTER DELIVERED ON THAT DAY AHAHAA SWEET.

I will finally get to enjoy games in maximum quality with my XFX GeForce 8800 XXX video card :) It's one of the best ones around, top 4 infact. Left a huge hole in my pocket buying this new computer but it's going to be worth it. I have got a great soundcard being put in, good for recording, etc. So I can finally do some voice acting for some new toons. Speaking of toons, I should be making more once Tuesday comes by.

SALTY SWAMP SWEATY BALLS

PREPARE YOURSELVES LOL

Tuesday is the day

Last week I went for a final interview with Spider Web International, located in New Zealand and they have offered me a job as a web developer! My role will be making flash, graphics and web site design.

I'm over the moon, I never would of thought I'd get a job in this field, especially not at this age.

I showed the guys my flash work on a big projector screen and they laughed and seemed generally impressed.

The workplace is awesome! It reminds me of the xbox because it's got green tinted windows and lounges, lamps, etc.

I start tomorrow morning and I am pumped.

Hopefully this is the start of my dream!

WOOO!!!
