I use an Oktava MK 319 which is a condenser mic. It's one of the best mics I've used besides those crazy expensive ones they use in studios. I compared the quality of it to a 500 dollar Shure microphone and my Oktava blew it out of the water.

I was lucky enough to snag mine for around a hundred BUCKS. From Guitar Center, I believe.

I'm reading reviews on it now, it doesn't sound too bad. What do you use to power it? Apparently it requires Phantom power does it not?

I thought u needed a graphics tablet, not a mic?

well, I kinda want both but a mic is more important to me at the moment as I can draw with the mouse well enough.

Yeah I've heard good and bad things about them. I suppose they're handy cause they're usb. I was thinking about just getting a usb condenser, but then I thought "what was the point of spending all the money on my soundcard"

Phantom power can be provided by most pre-amps. I use an M-Audio MobilePre which is a portable model used for laptops. It's small and it looks kinda cool.

I would suggest along with the condenser you get a puff filter. They're relatively inexpensive. It will greatly reduce the harshness and popping of your P's and S's.

Oh ok. Thanks for your help. One step closer to getting my mic :]

some cheapass thing i got for 11 bucks at a Wal-Mart

I also use the M-Audio MobilePre for my phantom power. My mic is a Studio Projects B1. Also a very reliable quality mic at about 100 bucks, but I've heard of it going for as low as 70. If you don't wanna spend all the extra money on a preamp, you could try a decent USB-based condensor. In that case, I recommend the Samson C01U or C03U (as mentioned by squeakytoad).

About the pop screen/filter, yeah they're not too expensive, I did buy mine but I'll note that homemade ones usually work just as well and can basically be made from some stockings and some other frame material. Look up "pop screen DIY" on Google.

Actually I was looking at the Studio Projects range last night and the B3 interested me quite a bit. If you suggest that the Studio Projects range is nice, I might even consider getting one.

I don't know what kind of microphone I have. All I know is that it was found in our garage.

I use a Samson Q7 Super Cardioid. I find it really good for voice over work. Got mine for about $200 CDN... It's also pretty good for capturing sound effects, as long as you have a good mobile recorder like a DAT or minidisc. For the longest time I used a cheap $15 mic from Radio Shack... this is far superior.

Nice. I'll check out some reviews on it.

well I have a 20 pesos ( 2 bucks) microphone and It has worked very wll for me. You will see some of my voice acting in my next movie.

you know what Im talking about

; )

Logitech desk mic. Gets the job done. I know Jeff uses a headset Logitech mic for his stuff.
